The session focuses on Nova Scotia Power's (NSPI’s) approach to electromagnetic transient (EMT) model quality testing and full-system modeling. Engineers from NSPI present how they developed EMT study capabilities from the ground up, moving from no established processes to a comprehensive framework within a few years.
The recording includes a demonstration of NSPI’s model requirements documentation and model quality test scripting in PSCAD (Power Systems Computer-Aided Design), along with discussion of how these resources can be shared with peers.
This presentation builds on NSPI’s recent work presented at the Atlantic Canada Transmission Planning meeting and highlights how these efforts align with the NERC alert issued on May 20, 2025, addressing inverter-based resource performance and modeling.
