Early Morning Walk in a 12th Century English Village - Bishopstone, ENGLAND

Join me on an enchanting early morning walk through the picturesque village of Bishopstone in Wiltshire, England. Bishopstone is a village steeped in history, dating back to the 12th century when it was first recorded as the parish of Bissopeston in 1166. Tax returns suggest that Bishopstone was fairly prosperous until the 16th century but then fell into decline. By 1784, the parish measured 3,520 acres, and by the 19th century, most of the land had become concentrated into a few large farms. By the Second World War, only three of these remained – Manor, Prebendal, and Eastbrook. The entire village was designated as a Conservation Area in 1973.

St Mary’s Church: Dating back to the 12th century, this historic church was restored in 1882 under the direction of Ewan Christian and again in 1891 after a serious fire in the tower.
