Where's the BEST COUNTRY for Expats to Retire? Could you live in Fort Kochi, Kerala, India?

I'm heading to Fort Kochi where I've stayed before. I hadn't intended on coming here on this trip. I’d envisaged just returning to the places I’ve previously stayed and love such as Varkala in Kerala and Agonda in Goa. But having spent two weeks in in Varkala taking a train from Kerala to would take 17 hours, so I’d taken a four hour train journey the previous day to Ernakulam, and was now on my way in a Grab to stay in Fort Kochi for a few days before taking a hour flight to Goa instead.

Having recently watched the Real Marigold Hotel Reality Documentary Series about British retirees deliberating on choosing Kerala as a retirement destination, with Series 2 set in Fort Kochi, I decided to spend a few days here. I’ve visited Fort Kochi a few times over the past 35 years, but I returned there with this question in mind: Could I retire here?

I now have a 5 year India e-visa allowing me to stay for 180 days per calendar year. How wonderful is that? India finally became open to non-vaccinated tourists in November 2022, but I haven't been able to return to this magical country until a year later.
