This is one of my favorite trails in the Colorado Front Range! It is best ridden on a trail/AM bike but of course I had to tackle it on my Trek 1120 adventure bike. We cancelled an alpine mountaineering adventure so I had a couple of open days and I decided to do this in an out (on trail) and back (on road) style.
The Sourdough Trail is located in the high country of Boulder county Colorado. This trail parallels the continental divide mostly just below timberline. The views are sparse, but when you do see them, they are epic. It is described as a chunky black diamond trail spotted with a few sections of flow.
