On this day in early March I visited Warley Place nature reserve, in Brentwood Essex. Formerly the home of Edwardian horticulturalist Ellen Willmott and her extensive gardens. The house was demolished in 1939, and the garden reverted to wilderness, eventually making its way to being looked after by the Essex Wildlife Trust who now maintain the site with a team of volunteers.
