The Orthodox Christian Studies Center of Fordham University is pleased to present the 2025 Lenten Orthodox Scholars Preach series, featuring short sermons by leading Orthodox Christian scholars.
The sermon for Forgiveness Sunday is given by The Rev. Dr Gregory Tucker, postdoctoral researcher at the Chair for Liturgical Studies, University of Regensburg. He holds degrees in theology from the University of Oxford (BA, MSt) and Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (MA) and a PhD in Greek Philology from the University of Regensburg. His research focuses on the history and theology of Byzantine liturgy, especially hymnody. His first book, The Hymnography of the Middle Byzantine Ecclesiastic Rite & Its Festal Theology (Aschendorff, 2022), comprises an edition, translation, and select commentary on the hymns of the archaic liturgy of the Great Church of Constantinople. His current project is a study of Greek hymns for the feast of the transfiguration of Christ. He is a hieromonk of the Archdiocese of Churches of Russian Tradition in Western Europe.
