Filmed by Seamus Kernan,
Newtoncunningham in 1967 in Croke Park. Sean O'Donnell R.I.P. gave me this to movie to video. It's great history and Sean walks second behind Bernard Brady the Donegal captain followed by the late John Hannigan R.I.P.
The main history attached to this game was that Donegal were awarded a penalty and Neily Gallagher because of a windy day had to replace the ball when it blew away off the line a few times Eamon Moules a Wicklow referee blew for a free out to Galway. Everyone was mystified as to how this could be a right decision but Donegal lost the penalty and lost the match by 3 points after giving a great display. Unfortunately the penalty isn't on this part of the film. It was Donegal's third time in a NFL Semi- Final for three years in a row having played Kerry in 1965, and Longford in 1966. Galway were All Ireland champions at the time and had a tour of America arranged for a short time later. The referee was also a guest on that trip.
