Just days after the Pahalgam terror attacks, I took a bold journey from Leh to Turtuk — a remote Muslim village nestled near the India-Pakistan border. Crossing the mighty Khardung La Pass, I found myself in a land that defied every stereotype.
Turtuk, once part of Pakistan, now stands quietly under the Indian flag — home to the warm and resilient Balti people. Despite heightened tensions, my Muslim driver, the local villagers, and the entire experience reminded me of one truth: humanity has no religion.
From the rich Balti culture to traditional cuisine and heritage homes, this episode shows the real Turtuk — raw, emotional, and eye-opening.
