The dance of the scissors is a magical religious dance that represents the spirits of the Pachamama, apus or ancestral deities. The concept comes from the anthropologist and writer José María Arguedas, who was a great student of Peruvian folklore; He spread this dance and converted the danzaq into literary characters (The Agony of Rasu Ñiti).
On November 16, 2010, it was recognized by Unesco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity due to its age and symbolic value.
La danza de las tijeras es un baile mágico religioso que representa a los espíritus de la Pachamama, apus o deidades ancestrales. El concepto deviene del antropólogo y escritor José María Arguedas, el cual fue un gran estudioso del folclore peruano; él difundió esta danza y convirtió a los danzaq en personajes literarios (La agonía de Rasu Ñiti).
El 16 de noviembre de 2010 fue reconocida por la Unesco como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por su antigüedad y valor simbólico.
