What is the Maya Preclassic? It's the part that comes before the Classic! Duh.
Some facts:
2000BC - AD250 (some say 1800BC to AD250).
Begins with the first manufacturing of pottery.
Early - 2000-1000BC
Middle - 1000-400BC
Late - 400BC-AD250
The Late Preclassic has some huge city centers associated with it, like El Mirador. Many of these first huge centers collapse by the beginning of the Classic Period in AD250.
