One of my new favourite discoveries for truly authentic and high-quality Padang cuisine has to be Sari Ratu, a legendary name that started all the way back in 1982 in Jakarta. Serving the rich heritage of Minang food all the way from West Sumatra, Indonesia. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by rows of vibrant dishes over 60 varieties. Each one bursting with aromas of fresh herbs, coconut milk, chilies, and spices that instantly remind you of home-style Indonesian cooking.
Must-try items include the deeply savory Ayam Pop (lightly fried, skinless chicken boiled in coconut water), the aromatic Gulai (yellowish, thick gravy primarily made from coconut milk, turmeric, and various complex spice blends ), the fiery Sambal Hijau (green chili sambal), and Kentang Goreng (freshly sliced fried spicy potato chips) and many more.
With so many dishes and even a wide selection of ala carte breakfast items, this is one of those places you can come back to again and again. A perfect spot for family gatherings, casual meals, or anyone who wants to indulge in genuine, comforting, flavour-packed Indonesian cuisine. Halal and vegetarian friendly.
