On the 4th, Korea's six opposition parties began impeachment proceedings against President Yoon Seok-yeol for his failed attempt to declare martial law.
The Republic of Korea woke up to an uncertain reality after an unprecedented scene in which President Yoon suddenly declared martial law, 190 National Assembly members gathered to reject it, and then lifted martial law about six hours later.
Citizens gathered in the Gwanghwamun area in front of the National Assembly on the evening of the 4th and chanted slogans calling for President Yoon to resign.
BBC correspondent Laura Vicker met with citizens who gathered at the impeachment protest.
