Every year my mother in-law makes different kinds of pickled vegetable . This time I am showing you how she makes the pickled colorful salad. This is called in their language šarena salata. It's colorful because of the vegetables they are using. The peppers, the tomatoes, carrots, chili and the cabbage. This is very simple way of preserving the vegetables no cooking involved. Just slice thinly the vegetables mix them together and put them in a container and pour in the brine water. The brine water can be adjusted according to your taste. This time Nana put the flower of the fennel and it smells so good. She also put in whole pieces of green tomatoes. Oh by the way it's normal here that we would use a bucket small or big for preserving their vegetables aside from the glass bottles/containers. You can eat this the next day. Here we ate them after a week. This is really good during winter season.
