Android 16 QPR2: Perfectly Stable, but I’m Disappointed. (Clover 3.6)

Android 16 QPR2 on Clover 3.6 started with a lie — a very beautiful lie. The moment I booted this ROM, that new setup and boot menu gave me premium vibes, almost like something straight out of iOS. Clean, smooth, modern, confident. I was already smiling, thinking Miatoll had finally received that next-level glow up. For a few minutes, I honestly believed this was going to be the ROM that changes everything.

Then I reached the home screen and actually began using it.

That is where the excitement slowly died. Behind that gorgeous first impression was a system that felt way too familiar, almost identical to Pixel OS 16. The same layout, the same behavior, the same limitations. Stable? Absolutely. Fast? Yes. Usable for daily driving? One hundred percent. But exciting? Not really. It felt like opening a gift box that looks luxurious outside, only to find something you already own inside.

Performance wise, Clover 3.6 does its job. Apps don’t crash, gaming is smooth, battery drain is respectable, and basic functions like calls, camera, and connectivity work without drama. If all you want is Android 16 with QPR2 stability on the Redmi Note 9 Pro family, you will not suffer here. This ROM can easily be a daily driver without giving you headaches.

But custom ROMs are supposed to have soul. They are supposed to feel different, creative, experimental. Instead, this build made me question whether Google’s tighter grip on AOSP is slowly killing originality. Are developers being forced into the same template? Or are projects becoming lazy copies of each other?

That boot menu raised my expectations too high, and the system that followed could not match the hype. I am grateful for the stability, but I cannot ignore the disappointment. Maybe my standards are too high, or maybe Android 16 custom ROMs are starting to lose their identity.
