How to get out THAT screw! - 2015 Ford Transit 250 - Front Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

2015 Ford Transit 250 3.7L. Front blower motor resistor was faulty. Van only had high speed on the front blower. This is the same design for pretty much all of the Transits. In theory it's a simple job. Lower glove box, disconnect connector, remove screw, remove resistor... install is opposite of removal. That is exactly what you get from service information. No mention at all about those HVAC pipes an inch above the screw and how you're supposed to actually GET to the stupid thing to remove it...

You can't see the head of the screw but it is a T15 not a Phillips/star. When it was most of the way down I was able to use a stubby ratcheting wrench with a Torx bit but once it got higher up that no longer worked. The only thing I found that worked was a nut driver with a u-joint adapter and a stubby torx socket. You're on a crazy angle, it's very difficult to get on the screw, you'll only get a few small turns at a time before having to reset, etc, etc. It's a tight fitting screw in plastic so very hard to turn with your fingers unless it's almost completely out. If you have a very small pair of pliers you might be able to use those to turn it some of the last ways. Otherwise if you wrapped the screw with emery cloth sandpaper for extra grip that MIGHT help..? Ultimately there's no easy way to get that screw in and out. It WILL take time and test your patience but it CAN be done!
