Kumlehi: At Least I Tried...

Not every mountain day ends in triumph, and that’s exactly why this one matters. What started as a calm, sunny climb toward the forgotten peaks of Kumlehi - a quiet family of rugged summits above the Vršič pass road in Slovenia - slowly turned into a fight against the elements and uncertainty itself.

The plan was ambitious: traverse the wild ridge of Mali Kumleh, Veliki Kumleh, and Kumlehova glava in one push. But as wind gathered strength and the clouds swallowed the horizon, the adventure shifted from reaching the summit to simply finding a way out. Alone on a crumbling ridge with no marked trails, I had to decide: turn back, or risk everything on an uncharted descent down a ravine that might not even lead to safety.

This is a story of plans abandoned, instincts tested, and quiet determination in the face of the unknown. You’ll find moments of sunlight and beauty, but also the raw side of mountain life: when you’re out there with no one but your thoughts and the storm for company.
