'Variations on Napoli' is inspired by Allen Vizzutti's showpiece 'Carnival of Venus'. Allen composed that work for himself to perform as a virtuoso showpiece based around the globally popular air & variations solo 'The Carnival of Venice'.
This solo follows similar guidelines, being pased upon another incredibly well-known 'air varie' in Herman Bellstedt's 'Napoli', but also making the variations on the theme even more berserk and complex than in the original.
