On a beach camping trip to the Washington Coast, we decided to head inland for a day trip to the Quinault Rainforest. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, and ironically not a single drop of rain was falling. We were amazed at the beauty of the forest and the area around Lake Quinault on the Washington coast.
It was a trip to remember with the amazing discovery of this Giant Ganoderma applanatum aka,(the Artist Conk) while traveling through the forest.
It was the biggest I have ever found in over 20 years of mushroom foraging, and it was definitely, one of my most memorable moments finding such an epic fungi. To see the amount of spores coming from this mushroom was really special indeed.
