During the Spring of 2017, the Center for Service and Social Action at John Carroll University helped me to create an oral history project for my United States History course. Once a week for a month we took our John Carroll students to perform oral history interviews at the Eliza Bryant Nursing Home in Cleveland, Ohio. These visits provided seniors an opportunity to pass their wisdom down to the next generation. It also provided our students an opportunity to learn about the Great Depression, World War II, the Civil Rights movement and other important historical moments those people who witnessed them firsthand. (In this video you meet my student Maddie who is a 20 year old college student and Ms. Ruby Wango who is 102 years young!)
I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to both the staff at the CSSThank you Eliza Bryant community for sharing your knowledge with our students.
