Today I am hiking along the coast and through the city of Ribeira Grande and exploring the region. I have been staying in the neighboring town of Ribeirinha, where I am starting my hike.
Both Ribeira Grande and Ribeirinha are located in the north of Ilha de São Miguel. This Portuguese island is part of the Azores, a subtropical hiking paradise that you just have to see!
The coast of São Miguel is really impressive. The lush green island breaks off in massive, raw, rocky coastlines all around the island. It is met with the clear deep blue water of the Atlantic ocean.
This hike leads from Ribeirinha to the light house at the coast, then along the coast to Ribeira Grande and to the city beach as well as the beach west of the city. Please join me on my exploration of this beautiful and unique place. Hiking here has been nothing but wonderful and on this hike I explored the place where I was staying without driving half across the island. Because beauty is never far on this island.
São Miguel is the perfect place for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors!
