The Osaka Monorail is a monorail system in northern Osaka, Japan, operated by Osaka Monorail Co., Ltd.. The company was established in 1980 with 65% investment from Osaka Prefecture, and the remaining investment from Japanese megabanks, Hankyu, Keikyu, Kintetsu, and others.
The section between Minami-Ibaraki Station and Senri-Chuo Station opened in 1990, and has been gradually extended since then. The branch line, the Saito Line, opened in 1998. There are also plans to extend the line south from its current terminus, Kadoma-shi Station.
Currently, the Osaka Monorail is the longest monorail line in Japan, with a total length of 28 km, and is scheduled to be extended by a further.
