🎄Christmas Wall Swap-Out: Street Signs I Received as Gifts

When people ask me how I grow my street sign collection, I say that it always comes down to two things: right place/right time, and who you know.

From knowing someone who knows someone, to simply asking a highway worker what they do with their old signs when one is being replaced... I've acquired signs both ways, and people I know who know that I like signs have acquired signs for me both ways as well. I have a pretty awesome network.

As Ringo Starr (and later, Joe Cocker) once said, you get by with a little help from your friends. And for those friends who give me a little help around acquiring a street sign (the right way): I thank you, and I will never forget.

In this video, in tandem with Christmas 2023, I sift through all of my traffic signs and pull out those that have been given to me by other people – gifts, if you will. And I tell the story of each sign, all the way back to the Advanced Railroad Crossing sign that was the first of what would be a collection of hundreds.

Bear with me... at the time of this post, this is my longest video, at 25 minutes. Each one of my signs has a story, and these stories have main characters who have contributed to my hobby.

And I can't say it enough times: each sign featured here and in all of my videos were obtained legally. I do not condone the illegal acquisition of public property. I am a grown a$$ man.
