On October 19, we drove a few hours away from the R&N to visit the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and to chase former C&O #1309. 1309 is a 2-6-6-2 articulated steam locomotive and is unique, as it is 1 of 2 operational articulated locomotives, with a third under restoration. 1309 pulled the train from Cumberland, MD to Frostburg, MD through the fall colors that were quickly approaching their peak.
