The Franz Josef Glacier walk is beautiful easy walk and is the best way to view the Franz Josef Glacier without paying for a tour. The walk to the glacier is an easy hike with some small inclines at some points and is around 4 km (2.5 mi) return.
Both the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers are natural wonders and each one is worth some taking some time to explore. The Franz Josef Glacier was more spectacular than the Fox Glacier and I consider go and see it before it disappears forever as it is receding.
