Sunday Funday in the shop! Today we drag in parts and make major progress on the front end of my tri-five gasser build. We’re getting into suspension setup, raised spindles vs straight axle debate, old-school period-correct parts, disc brake installation, and all the little tricks that go into getting this car sitting how I want — old school, with the front kicked up like it's ready to launch.
I’m building this car my way — not a cookie-cutter straight axle job. Yes, straight axles look killer, but raised spindles were a real period option back in the ’60s and that’s the route I chose to keep it authentic for my build style and budget. If you thought all gassers ran straight axles, think again — “Gasser” was a racing class, not a suspension rule!
We fight with control arms, spindle alignment, coil springs, Speedway disc brakes (no instructions of course!), and making sure everything lands right so we can actually roll this thing out of the shop. Plus, a shout-out to @DDSpeedShop — great Canadian dudes wrenching the same way we do.
If you're into gassers, tri-five Chevys, period-correct builds, old school fab, or no-BS shop content, hit subscribe — more coming on this 409-powered build.
