In this fourth development log, I continue work on Project Sentinel, a university game development project built in Unreal Engine 5.
The game follows a rogue sentinel robot escaping from a mysterious factory controlled by a crazed AI. My goal is to build a short but engaging gameplay experience featuring traps, platforming, and a final boss encounter.
In this episode, I demonstrate several new additions created during class sessions and continued progress on the level layout:
Creating metallic and emissive materials, and using them to build material instances
Adjusting colour variations for the player character and pipes in the level
Building a new prop — deactivated sentinels with red emissive faceplates, suspended on poles and moving along a conveyor
Adding sound effects to doors for improved feedback
Completing the level skeleton layout using the procedural tools from earlier dev logs
