Everyone has Las Vegas on their minds...and we all will for quite some time.
GPD constantly monitors national events and we learn from them.
GPD has had a special team in place to respond to active shooters since 2001. The Advanced Law Enforcment Rifle Team (ALERT) was formed in response to the Columbine tragedy. In 2015, we formed the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) to provide some additional medical capabilities as well.
The debate on how to end these horrible tragedies will continue, but the fact remains that your local police department is trained, ready and willing to stand in harm's way to protect each and every single one of you.
We will take the fight to the bad guys and we will render aid along the way.
