Lecture 15 • AI Orgs and Agendas

This is the fifteenth lecture in the Language Models and Intelligent Agentic Systems course, run by Meridian Cambridge in collaboration with the Cambridge Centre for Data Driven Discovery (C2D3).

This lecture covers a large number of AI organisations as well as agendas within AI safety. We begin by inspecting the six most prominent AI labs, explaining who they are and analysing their goals, safety interests, and some recent publications. After this we discuss similar features of the key government groups in AI. Finally, we take a broad look at a number of AI safety agendas and different smaller organisations that are, at least in part, working in that area. We see how there are a broad variety of approaches and people working on AI safety, but that overall, investment in AI is primarily capabilities focussed.
