How to rebuild and improve BMW e36 differential in 5 minutes :-D
On our Rally Lada VFTS we are going to use BMW e36 188mm LSD (limited slip differential). We bought differential on scrapyard and fully rebuild it. Al bearings, bushings and seals are replaced, backlash and bearing preload is set with preload shims. Bushes are strong flex polyurethane 90 Sha. We install LSD unit from Racing diffs and upgrade final drive ratio to 4.1. Racing diffs LSD unit have 12 friction clutch plates and few ramps. For Rally we use 30/60 rampage and 52 Nm of preload. To achieve that we manipulated clutch order and test preload with torque wrench.
