In partnership with the Public Works Engineering Division and the Hayward Public Library, the City's Maintenance Services completed installation of a decorative sidewalk across C Street. Completed just in time for National Library Week (April 6-12), the installation celebrates the importance of reading and literacy with a depiction of a colorful bookshelf connecting the Downtown Library to Heritage Plaza. It’s another example of Maintenance Services and Public Works Engineering working together to expand public art in service of pedestrian safety—and follows the installation of new piano key crosswalks across Foothill Boulevard at B Street. Both projects were captured masterfully in video by Audio Video Specialist Bolthar Garcia.
