A continuation of our trip up to see Locomotion. Since its a long way up, we always make sure to include a lot of nearby railways if possible.
Here is the Stephenson Railway Museum, a museum and railway we intended to visit before but never got the time. We came on what we later found to be a Shunter Sunday, hence the use of the Class 08 and Class 03, always nice to see some shunters every now and then, shame the Consett Diesel was just out of view, would've been lovely to see in its glory.
The line is a lot longer than I thought it was going to be, I expected something like Didcot Railway Centre but slightly longer. Something else that surprised me was the amount of historical items in the museum, the second oldest locomotive in the world, a sole survivor of an obscure LNER system, an early electric locomotive, and more! I was fascinated with their collection. Was interesting to see their latest acquisition of a Tyne and Wear Metro Unit, it had to happen, the metro line does literally go over the museums running track after all.
