The family of an observer soldier held hostage in Gaza has called on the Israeli government to agree to a ceasefire deal and bring her home in the first video released of her by Hamas since her capture.

Over the weekend Hamas’s military wing put out a video of Liri Albag, 19, who has been held captive by the militant group since the attacks on October 7, 2023. In the video she references new year but there is no definitive proof the film was shot recently.
An Israeli delegation arrived in Qatar on Sunday to continue indirect negotiations with Hamas, the militant group that rules the Gaza Strip. Despite months of positive statements, the talks have failed to bear fruit, leading families of the hostages to blame the Israeli government for failing to seize the opportunity for a ceasefire.
