On the 1st June 2019, 334017 top and tailed with 57305 and 37601 is dragged into Kilmarnock, before turning around and heading the other way to Brodies Kilmarnock for repairs. This movement originated from Shields depot in the south side of Glasgow.
On the 8th May 2018 334017 was unfortunately involved in a nasty accident near the station of Uphall in East Lothian. The train hit a herd of cattle at speed which caused severe damage to the front end of the unit. The unit would have been travelling at 90 miles per hour, and upon impact, the driver's first thought was that the train had derailed. However upon inspection it turns out that it did briefly derail but due to it's momentum re- railed itself. There is front end damage and reports of damage to the underside.
After 57305 and 37601 dropped off the stricken unit they returned to their home south and were moved to Carlisle before heading further south. These locos, or similar ones, will soon return in the coming months to drag the unit back to it's home at Shields Depot.
