Chukka Koora, also known as Khatta Palak in Hindi or Green Sorrel in English. The leaves look similar to Spinach with a smooth texture and dark green surface, but they have thicker and juicer stems and tangy taste.

ingredients
chukka kura 3 cups [ wash throughly]
red lentils 1/4 cup
ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
green chilli paste 1 tbsp
salt 1 tsp
water 2 1/2 cup
cumin seeds 1 tsp
curry leaves handful
dried red chillies 4
8 garlic cloves crushed
oil 2 tbsp
tomatoes 5 [ chop them roughly]
preparation method
wash lentils throughly and add to pressure cooker.
add ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, turmeric powder, tomatoes, chukka kura, tomatoes and water.
cover the lid , put on the whistle, cook for 4 whistles.
after four whistles , off the flame and let the steam go out.
mash the lentils well.
add salt and mix well.
prepare the tempering.
heat up the oil. add cumin seeds, let them crackle.
add garlic let them turn slightly brown, add dried chillies and turn brown , off the flame and add curry leaves.
add the tempering to dal.
serve it with hot rice, drizzle clarified butter on top.
and that tastes takes you to another level....
