Here’s some parts of The Casino Model Railway Museum in Malahide, Co.Dublin. It tells the history of the man who made many of the models on display, Cyril Fry, who was a former worker on CIE (now Irish Rail). There’s also a bit of history about the building itself and some history about Irelands railways through the years. The big event is definitely the big model train set which represents Dublin City, Mallow, Bray Head and Malahide. There’s also a simulator to drive a train (I think it’s the DART). I didn’t use it (well I pressed a button and it was doing announcements like the real train, but I didn’t want to draw attention because it’s really made for kids, and seeing a 23 year old using it would make people ask questions). Anyways, it’s a brilliant museum with extremely friendly staff which are informative and helpful. You’ll be made very welcome there. Another great day out for the family.
