In-N-Out is closing its Irvine headquarters by 2029, ending 35 years in Orange County and forcing 500 corporate employees to choose between relocating to Baldwin Park or the new Tennessee office. The iconic California burger chain will consolidate its West Coast operations to its original Baldwin Park location while opening a $126 million Eastern headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee by 2026. The Irvine office, which occupies nine floors at 4199 Campus Drive, represents the third-largest restaurant chain in Orange County with $2.1 billion in annual sales. Employees face a difficult choice - uproot their lives to Tennessee or commute to Baldwin Park, as the company offers no Orange County alternative. This exodus joins the broader California business flight, with companies fleeing high costs and regulations for business-friendly states. The closure devastates Irvine's business community, removing a major employer and cultural icon from Orange County's corporate landscape.
