"SHELLEY SMITH: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE" - Nov. 12, 2023 - (Highlights)

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, we celebrated the life of Shelley Smith. It was an exceptionally emotional event. This is an edited to 60 minutes - "Highlights" version. She was stunningly gorgeous inside and out, and hers was a life very well-lived. The historic El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, California was filled to near capacity with the people who’s lives she touched. Early successes as a Supermodel and actress only laid the groundwork for a Second Act as a highly respected pioneer in the world of “Fertility”- egg donors and surrogacy. The people who shared from the stage painted a picture of a wise, dedicated, fearless, compassionate warrior- her brother Leigh Smith, her longtime friend, fellow Supermodel and actress, Susie Blakely, fertility colleagues Shoshannah and Alex, her son, Nicholas Nathan, who tore my heart out with his emotional speech, and her beloved husband Michael Maguire who brought his charming, larger than life personality and shared with breathtaking simplicity how endlessly and deeply he loved her and that she made him a better man than he ever expected to be. The program was hosted by The Honorable Michael Levanas and featured exquisite performances by Julie Garnye, Jason Graae, and Billy Valentine all masterfully accompanied by the one man orchestra Gerald Sternbach, plus a Video retrospective of the family with a soundtrack recording of Michael Maguire ( A Tony Award Winner for "Les Miserables") singing the Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein II classis "All The Things You Are". The Program was directed by Clifford Bell and Victoria Eliason was the Event Coordinator. The Announcement was designed by Shelley Smith's daughter, Miranda Nathan.
