Super Onimusha Warlords! Let's Save the Princess! Part 1

Welcome SimuSquad to the start of a brand new adventure through Onimusha: Warlords on Playstation 2! This is a hack and slash with Resident Evil style controls and puzzles! It is a game I always wanted to beat as a kid, but now I get to do it for your entertainment! Let's dive in!

We start the game with a long cinematic that shows us the backstory to our adventure. It shows a battle between two armies of samurai with one being lead by Oda Nobunaga! Nobunaga gets told that his army is winning the battle, and he stands to laugh in victory before being felled by an arrow through the throat. He seems dead as the camera fades to black. We get to see our hero in the game, Samanosuke. He gets to show his prowess in battle in an epic fight before we make a change of scenery. In the new scene, we see Samanosuke riding a galloping horse to a castle that he barges into to try and save the princess Yuki. Unfortunately, our princess is in another castle, and we give chase. We find her not far from our start, but see her get kidnapped by a large demon, or Oni. We are given an item by the ogre clans that will allow us to slay demons and absorb their souls. With our newly acquired power, we charge after the princess!

Once we follow her, we encounter some easy to fight Oni that become a tutorial. With their defeat, we come to a hole in the ground that leads us to a new area and the way into the castle that the Oni have taken over. We fight several battles before we come across one of Nobunaga's generals, Toukichiro Kinoshit, harassing Yumemaru, a kid that was taken in by Yuki. We dissuade the general from pursuing the child, and shoot down a job offer as he leaves. We try to speak more with Yumemaru, but he runs away and we dispatch our ninja friend to corral him. After more battles and exploration, we come across a series of puzzles that Samanosuke and Kaeda must work together to solve. I die several times here as there is a trap door puzzle that gets me several times, and a slide puzzle that forces a reset. After several tries, we call it a stream.
