What topics are more likely to motivate your students during your language lessons? Online teaching not only brings challenges but also brings a lot of powerful electronic tools to teachers. Discussion boards, pointers, virtual games, text editors, drawing tools, file editors, breakout rooms, or screen sharing tools can all make your class more interesting and keep your students’ attention. But what if your students don´t feel motivated to talk about the topics you want to talk about? Spending 2 lessons talking about animals may not be the best option if you are teaching a student that works as a Basketball Player and talking about business meetings will definitely not engage a young learner.

The wrong choice of a topic can make students feel tired and bored quickly. Talking about things that connect with what they do in real life is key to a successful lesson. Breaking down knowledge and information into small sections is also a great way for students to learn and accept the content better. Adding different kinds of activities will make the learning time fly by.
