Murapara Rajbari is one of the archaeological sites and a century-old landlord's house in Bangladesh, located in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj District. This landlord's house was renovated and expanded by several landlords at different times. It is located in the village of Murapara in the Upazila. It is about 18 kilometers away from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, by road.[1] Locals also call it Matherghat Zamindar's House.

👉 History

Murapara Rajbari
The Murapara Rajbari is situated on 62 bighas of land. This zamindar house was built by Babu Ramratan Banerjee who established the Murapara zamindari in the area. Later, the palace was renovated and expanded by some of his descendants. In 1889, zamindar Pratap Chandra Banerjee expanded the rear part of this building and started living here with his family.

His son Bijoy Chandra Banerjee built a building in front of the palace in 1899 and dug two ponds. In 1909, his two sons Jagadish Chandra Banerjee and Ashutosh Chandra Banerjee completed the two-storey work of the palace.[2]

👉 How to get there

From Dhaka's Sayedabad, Gulistan or Jatrabari bus terminals, take a bus (Meghala, ASEAN or Glory) to Bhulta or Ruposhi bus stand. From there, take a bus bound for Narsingdi and Bhairab to Bhulta and from there, take a rickshaw or CNG (fare 20 taka per person) directly to Murapara Zamindar Bari.

Alternatively, from under Kuril Flyover, take a taxi to Kanchan Bridge for 60 taka per person. Near Kanchan Bridge, you can reach Rupganj Shitalakshya Ferry Ghat for 40 taka per person for CNG and cross the ferry and take a rickshaw or auto to Zamindar Bari.
