What if Robb Stark Executed Jamie Lannister? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
Jaime rushes through the forest outside Riverrun, his mind still racing about what happened. The last thing he remembered was being trapped in his cell, but the next he found himself being led out by a group of men who wore his family’s colors but claimed they were under employment of Tyrion Lannister. One man to murder the guards, a second to pick the locks of his cell, and a third to mimic the voice of Lord Edmure.
Jaime nearly laughs. It is just the sort of mad plan his brother would cook up. He is tempted to kiss Tyrion the next time he sees him. But his amusement is cut short by the twang of crossbows.
Bolts flash from the trees, and the men at the back of the column scream before going down. Glancing back, he sees a group of mounted men rushing after him, bearing the sigil of House Tully.
Rather than retreat, Jaime laughs. It’s about time he repays Lord Edmure for his hospitality. Snatching a sword from one of the confused guardsmen, Jaime rushes to meet them.
The first two men fall in a blur of steel and blood, but the third catches Jaime’s blade, parrying just in time. The clash buys enough time for more guards to flood in, weapons drawn.
Confusion ripples through the Lannister ranks. Only the few Tyrion had personally entrusted with the plan know what’s happening. Jaime, clad in their uniform, is nearly indistinguishable from the others. But instinct takes over, and blades are raised. In moments, the battlefield is in chaos.
The forest soon comes alive with the ring of swords and the cries of men who roar and batter one another. Though the Lannisters are more numerous, their hesitation costs them. Some refuse to move for fear of being punished, and many are cut down before they can react.
As Jaime finishes off the guards, he hears an angry cry. Edmure points his sword at him, identifying him because of his shaggy beard, and directs his men to face him. Nearly a dozen Tully guards swarm him in an instant, fighting through the Lannister ranks.
Jaime backs up, cutting the first attackers down, but soon finds himself surrounded and overwhelmed. In a matter of minutes, the battle is over, with dozens of Lannister guards dead and the rest throwing down their weapons without a fight.
They are led back to Riverrun in chains, where Edmure reports everything that happened. Jaime is thrown in a dungeon where he cannot access the comforts of his tower cell, and Robb rides back to handle this matter.
Edmure: It is too risky to leave the Kingslayer alive. I lost a lot of good men trying to get him back. We were fortunate that I discovered this deception when I did.
Robb: He will not escape if he’s properly guarded.
Edmure: Ser Jaime is guarded day and night by my men. I’ve already tripled his guards, but begging your pardon, your grace. If his brother wants him out this badly, he won’t stop now. There will be another attempt to free him.
Catelyn: I’m afraid I must agree, Robb. I once considered the Imp to be the least dangerous Lannister, but I see now I was wrong. He is cunning and managed to slip my grip in the Vale.
Robb: So, what do you propose?
Edmure: We execute Ser Jaime.
Robb: Shocked. Execute him?! He is a prisoner taken and who surrendered.
Edmure: And he vowed not to try escaping. I think the gods will forgive us for looping his head.
Robb: He is the only thing keeping my sister alive and staying Tywin Lannister’s hand.
Edmure: Staying his hand? Half of the Riverlands have been burned, and the other half is still on fire. He’s hardly stayed his hand. As for your sisters…what’s to say they aren’t already dead?
Catelyn: Edmure, what are you saying?
Edmure: I’m saying the Lannisters might have already killed them, for all we know. They speak as if they have both of them, but you said it yourself, Cat. In Sansa’s letter, she does not even mention Arya. And what is to say they haven’t executed her? This attempt could be because they know they have nothing to trade.
The room goes silent as Edmure says these things. None of them had ever wished to admit it, but that possibility had crossed their mind, and Edmure’s words made too much sense.
Catelyn: Pauses. You would condemn my girls to death if they live.
Edmure: And if we lose him, then what will stop the Lannisters from executing them…
Robb: At least Rickard Karstark will be pleased.
None of them could have predicted this escape attempt and how cunning the plan was. There is no telling what Tyrion will try next. Though it is unspoken, the truth is that Jaime is more valuable than Sansa and Arya. He is one of the Lannister’s symbols of power. He commands troops, instills fear, and has proven to be willing to do whatever he wants to achieve his goal. He will always be a threat so long as he lives.
