Seems like everyone and their uncle has come out with some new variation on a "rapid deploy ridgeline" lately. You know, the kind strung between two trees for putting up a tarp shelter. Most seem just slight variations on the one made popular by Dave Canterbury at his Pathfinder School years ago. Depending on how much you geek out about the many variations of these kinds of things, it all might seem fascinating or like a bunch of nonsense. Some folks like using carabiners, Nite Ize figure 9s or Dutchware Gear attachments named after insects (like the Wasp, Flyz, Fleaz and Stingerz). Some like carving wooden bits and parts or tying elaborate knots.
I have been using my ridgeline for years, originally inspired by a video from Shawn Kelly at Corporal's Corner. Over time I have tinkered around with variations on it to fit my needs. I never really thought it something I ought to make a video about. But then I found myself actually watching a lot of these variations-on-a-ridgeline videos. I figure there are probably others like me out there... up too late, watching the fifteenth video about a guy setting up a ridgeline of some kind.
So, in a shameless ploy to take advantage of all this recent renewed interest in ridgelines, here's my present set-up. It is essentially an amalgamation of bits and pieces of what a bunch of others have done.
Here's the Corporal's Corner video that originally inspired me to do a rapid/quick deploy ridgeline:
• 2 Minute Shelter Secrets
Here's Dave Canterbury's more recent video that has seemingly inspired this new slew of ridgeline variation videos:

And here is a bunch of other video's that I have found interesting or that have directly/indirectly inspired me to think about how I do my ridgeline.
A German gentleman named Detlef at Bushcraft & Nature. He is an innovator of "bushcraft toggles" and I believe his tensioner idea directly influenced Canterbury:
• Verstellbare Bushcraft-Knebel (Adjustable ...
And Detlef's instructional video about how to make a ridgeline is wonderful. This was the single most inspirational video for me. The guy has a whole system:
• Selbstgebautes Ridgeline-Set mit Buchenhol...
I heard about Detlef from a Felix Immler video. Felix is a wizard of Swiss Army Knives. Here's his video on "bushcraft rope tensioners":
• DIY Rope Tensioning System - Super easy 3 ...
Jess at Endurance Room was inspired by a guy named Joe Price at In Forests and Lands. That's where I was given the idea for the toggles connected to the prusiks:

Matt at Blackhat Bushcraft (also a Pathfinder School instructor) had a great, really simple video on a basic ridgeline set-up:
• The Tarp Ridgeline Made Quick & Easy ( 2 M...
A fellow named Muskrat Jim is where the cleat idea came from for me. He credits a channel called Robert's Bulgaria for it.
• No Knots, No Loops RIDGE LINE with Robert'...
Blackie Thomas has his soft shackles. Not a fan of those, but it might be your thing: • SILVER WOLVES QUICK DEPLOY RIDGELINE
James at Waypoint Survival recently released his own ridgeline take, crafting a cleat that doesn't need holes drilled in it:
• NEW RIDGE LINE TRICK! [ Simple & Easy ]
Frank Bush has recently invented his own self-titled variation on a ridgeline:
• THE FRANK BUSH RIDGELINE - THE ULTIMATE SI...
And then this guy, Devildog Bushcraft, and his use of little door lock hooks... just sort of a neat variation:
• Ridge line and guy lines. Advanced method
