The small town of Bofete, 198 km from the capital, is home to around 12,000 inhabitants and is an excellent ecotourism destination in the state. There, visitors are enchanted by the natural landscapes, especially the breathtaking mountains.
The municipality, located in the central-southern region of São Paulo, was founded in 1847 and has a strong influence of the muleteer culture, since the region was a support point during expeditions through the forest. That’s why you can still find remnants of this time there today.
