香港大學【服務100】啓動－3.12「向港大出發」

超過五百位就讀小四至小六的同學，於3月12日「向港大出發」，在香港大學校園一嘗做大學生的滋味，與大學同慶一百周年。

同學們來自不同背景，包括基層家庭及少數族裔的兒童。他們在陸佑堂參加迷你高桌宴 (High Table)，聆聼港大首席副校長錢大康教授講課，了解「互聯網的歷史」，並在校慶大蛋糕前合照。其他的活動包括由港大學生和校友組成的義工隊帶領同學遊覽校園，在孫中山先生銅像荷花池畔講故事，參觀許士芬地質博物館了解地震成因，及主持導修課 (Tutorials)，跟同學討論各樣議題﹑玩遊戲，介紹大學的生活。

「服務100」計劃配合港大百周年校慶活動環繞的「知識」、「傳承」、「服務」三大範疇，旨在動員本地和海外學生、教職員及校友組織，一起投入世界各地的義工服務, 帶動全球的港大人貢獻社會。

Over 500 primary school students invited to experience a day’s campus life

Over 500 primary school students experienced a day's university life at the University of Hong Kong on March 12 to celebrate the University's Centenary with students, staff and alumni.

The students, coming from Primary Four to Six and various background including grassroots and ethnic minorities, spent a day taking part in activities led by HKU student and alumni volunteers. They attended a mini High Table at Loke Yew Hall, listening to a lecture by HKU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin entitled "History of Internet". They also joined campus tour, visiting the Stephen Hui Geological Museum to learn the stories of earthquakes, and joined discussions and activities in tutorials led by HKU volunteers.

The event was to kick off HKU's Centenary celebration activity "Service 100", which seeks to reaffirm the University's commitment to build a better world. HKU community members will be mobilized locally as well as across the globe to engage in hundreds of community service projects worldwide.
