Before acting and gaining world wide recognition as an actor (roles like Mr Ox in Belly and Teddy Bruckshot in Shottas), Louie Ranking. used to deejay on downbeat sound from New York. Ninja Man shot Louie Rankin in the shoulder one time and Ninja Man spend time in jail for that.
Louie Rankin was the friend of fellow artists Supercat, Josey Wales and Ninja Man. Louie Rankin never had big hits in Jamaica while his typewriter song was an international hit. Beenie Man says that with the death of Louie Rankin we lost a great dancehall artist that turned into a international grammy winning movie star.
