Rescue hoist training of the helicopter crew with the callsign "Rega 8" in central Switzerland. The crews, together with mountain specialists from "Alpine Rettung Schweiz" (Alpine Rescue Switzerland), carry out hoist operations with the AgustaWestland / Leonardo AW109SP Da Vinci as part of their yearly training and checking program.
Swiss HEMS operator Rega operates a fleet of 20 rescue helicopters, 14 helicopter bases are spread across the country. Specially designed for operations in the mountains, 11 AgustaWestland / Leonardo AW109SP Da Vinci are part of this fleet. All Rega helicopters will be replaced by new Airbus Helicopters H145 D3 by the end of 2026.
