I visited Worksop Station back in June 1988 as part of my capturing MGR traffic in the Nottinghamshire area in the midst of all the colliery closing down period, a product of the Thatcher era, Many of the local collieries were still in operation and the nearby power stations were coal powered. There was even then quite a large amount of coal traffic and the many MGR trains were hauled by class 20, 56 and 58 locomotives. First generation DMU's still ran supreme in the area serving Worksop with connections to Lincoln,Nottingham and Sheffield. I hope this evokes fond memories of what was nearly 30 years ago.
