Instead, they vote for state electors who, together, form the Electoral College. Each state has a different number of electors, adding to the complexity. All eyes are on seven critical battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
