This Malawian Sign Language (MSL) video uses acting, singing, and conversation, adapted from National AIDS Commission (NAC) jingles, to denounce misinformation about alternative medicines and herbal remedies falsely claiming to cure HIV and AIDS.
The performance clearly emphasizes that there is no cure for HIV, and that stopping ARVs for herbal or alternative treatments is dangerous. It also reminds audiences that Malawi law criminalizes the spreading of false and misleading information about HIV and AIDS.
This adaptation ensures Deaf communities access accurate, evidence-based information in a language they understand, while protecting communities from harm caused by misinformation.
