GENNARO D'ALESSANDRO [ALLEXANDRO] (Naples, 1717?-after 1778)
ORLANDO FURIOSO (RV Anh. 127.25)
Pasticcio by Pietro Denzio with music by Antonio Vivaldi and others
Bassano, Teatro Nuovo, 1741
Act I, Scene 3
Aria [Astolfo]: Chi mai d'iniqua stella - 0:00
Music taken from "Arrida il ciel sereno" (I/8: Clodomiro)
ADELAIDE [= OTTONE]
Venice, S. Giovanni Grisostomo, 1739; Hamburg, Opernhaus am Gänsemarkt, 1744
This aria is falsely attributed to Antonio Vivaldi in D-ROu and A-LA (RV 749.3a) and according to Gilbert Bezzina's erroneous reconstruction, it was inserted into the opera "Rosmira" (Venice, S. Angelo, 1738) although a different aria, perhaps by Antonio Caldara (from Temistocle, 1736) or Antonio Gaetano Pampani (from Artaserse Longimano, 1737), had been used in the original (now lost); identification by Giovanni Tribuzio.
Marianna Pizzolato (soprano)
